What motivated you to become a medical assistant?
I wanted a better paying job and to be challenged in a different department of the hospital.
Why did you choose Vanderbilt?
I was already working with Vanderbilt as a CNA.
What did you like most about the Medical Assistant Program?
Being in a class that everyone is learning on the same level and watching everyone get their passing score on state testing.
What is the most important lesson you learned in the program?
I learned a lot more hands-on skills during my clinical portion of the program. That was.my favorite part.
What advice would you give a current student?
Try to go to a primary care clinic and find a preceptor or another MA to shadow. You will learn a lot more important skills while out in the field.
