What motivated you to become a central sterile processing technician?
Central Sterile Processing was a complete mystery to me, and I enjoy new challenges.
Why did you choose Vanderbilt?
I never knew anything about sterile processing before this program. I came in totally green. But I was already working at Vanderbilt in Nutrition Services, and I really liked the team atmosphere in the main hospital.
What did you like most about the Central Sterile Processing Program?
I liked the hands-on training. I am not much of a sit at the desk type person, so the hands-on part was by far the best part of the whole program.
What is the most important lesson you learned in the program?
Teamwork--working together to get a goal accomplished--was the most important lesson.
What advice would you give a future student?
Sterile processing is not for everyone, but there is more than one job inside the whole department, so find something you like and learn anything and everything you can.
