Meet Trevor, EMT Student

What motivated you to become an EMT?

My family has a long history in the medical field, and I've always been interested in the more adventurous side of EMS. I'm especially interested in exploring opportunities in rescue and helicopter services as I continue my career.

Why did you choose Vanderbilt?

The opportunity to learn from one of the top institutions in the field is something that really interested me. I also have multiple family members who work at Vanderbilt, and they've had nothing but great things to say about their experiences!

What did you like most about the EMT Program?

My favorite aspect of the program is probably the small group setting. It feels very personal and set up to exactly what we need and are able to work on where we struggle. Also our class has become very close, and we've developed some great friendships.

What is the most important lesson you learned in your program?

I've learned a lot about how the EMS system operates, especially the business side of it compared to the personal connections with patients. It's been fascinating to gain a deeper understanding to best care for someone.

What advice would you give a future student?

Have a motivation to really understand what you’re learning. ASK QUESTIONS! I can’t stress that enough, if you have any small things that don't make sense, or you just always wondered, just ask!
