Senior Director, Nursing Professional Practice
Patti Runyan began her nursing career in the Neonatal ICU at The Newborn Center in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Nursing in Memphis with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, she moved to Texas to pursue her passion for NICU transport and outreach.
After obtaining her Master’s degree in Business Administration at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas in 1991, Patti furthered her career through a series of progressive nursing leadership roles in both for profit and nonprofit healthcare systems across the South. She is recognized with certification by the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing & Healthcare (FULD) and the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a board-certified Nurse Executive, Advanced. Patti completed her DNP-Nurse Executive in December 2020 at Augusta University.
Patti joined the Vanderbilt team in 2018. She works on a variety of clinical and operational projects including partnerships with individuals and organizations pursuing evidence-based practice and nursing research, mentoring programs, and patient and professional advocacy.
