The Cognition and Movement Lab research focus is to understand brain-behavior relationships in the context of the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Our research studies assess therapeutic outcomes in neurodegenerative disorders, using innovative cognitive neuroscience and neuroimaging tools. Broadly, our work focuses on the biologic determinants of self-regulation and behavior. In Parkinson disease, we examine how dopaminergic medications can alter behavior, where current studies address the effect of dopamine agonists on the presentation of Impulsive and Compulsive Behaviors. Imaging methods include multimodal imaging assessments of blood flow (arterial spin labeling), resting state BOLD connectivity, MR spectroscopy, and Positron Emission Tomography.
