Robert Carroll, PhD
Robert Carroll, PhD, is an informatics professional developing big data resources for biomedical research. His concentration is in clinical and phenotypic data for large, diverse datasets, including the data representation, interoperability of datasets, tools to enable research, and connection with genomics data. His work extends from the Synthetic Derivative and BioVU at Vanderbilt to large NIH programs, including leading a number of clinical and phenotypic data efforts in the All of Us Research Program, the NHGRI AnVIL and NHLBI BioData Catalyst. This work is informed by his informatics research background in the fields of phenotyping in the electronic health record (EHR) and using linked genetics data for evaluating genetic associations in complex disease, specifically with the development and application of algorithms and machine learning methods to classify disease state and drug response.
