Lydia Deason Lewis is from Houston County, Tennessee, and lives with her husband on their farm during the weekends and during breaks from school. She completed her BS in Biology at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. As an inpatient pharmacy intern at VUMC, she has been integrated into the operation side of pharmacy by being trained on medication history and verification, staffing the front counter, and conducting numerous runs to restock floors throughout the hospital. Over her 2+ years at the hospital, she has had the pleasure of shadowing and working with several wonderful pharmacists. Lydia has assisted with research project data collection, making first dose kits for Hospital at Home, and aiding with updates to FMEA Combo and VUH SOP CRRT. While at Vanderbilt, Lydia had the opportunity to be published in InPharmation for her article entitled, “Seizure First Aid.” Most recently, Lydia presented a CE update entitled, “2022 Pharmacy Law Update: Encompassing Inpatient and Outpatient Pharmacies”. In her free time, Lydia loves working on the farm, spending time with her family, and collecting antiques. In the future, she would like to enter a residency program in Nashville, TN so that she can become a Clinical Pharmacist specializing in critical care. Lydia believes that she can utilize her attention to detail, empathy, and determination to not only be an effective pharmacist, but to improve her patients’ outcomes to the best of her ability.
