MONDAY, April 6 | 12 -1 pm (411 LH) Traditional Chinese Medicine Lecture Dr. Chongbin Zhu, LAC, PhD Osher Center for Integrative Medicine Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Dr. Chongbin Zhu, LAC, Ph.D. is a practitioner of Traditional Acupuncture/Chinese Medicine. He is also a neuroscientist and pharmacologist and is a research faculty member at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Chongbin's approach to patients is to focus on the whole self - mind, body, and spirit. He will be giving this talk on traditional Chinese medicine as part of World Health Week. Undergraduates, graduate students, medical students, faculty, and students from other schools are all welcome. Sponsored by the VUSM Global Health Organization. TUESDAY, April 7 | 12-1 pm (location TBA) Stories from the Epidemic Intelligence Service Dr. Ban Mishu Allos, MD Associate Professor of Medicine Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Dr. Ban Allos, Associate Professor of Medicine at VUSM, will share her experiences and stories in a small group setting from her time working as an officer with the Epidemic Intelligence Service in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. WEDNESDAY, April 8 | 12-1 pm (208 LH) Perspectives from the Ebola Bedside: a Doctor becomes a Patient Dr. Ian Crozier, MD 2015 Alpha Omega Alpha Ed Holloran Memorial Lecture Flexner Dean’s Lecture Series Co-sponsored by Alpha Omega Alpha and Vanderbilt GHO Lunch provided with RSVP Dr. Ian Crozier, a graduate of the infectious diseases fellowship program at Vanderbilt, was the "mystery patient" being treated for Ebola at Emory. He spent 12 days on a ventilator and was on dialysis for 24 days. Dr. Crozier comes to Vanderbilt to provide unique perspectives from a dual citizenship as Ebola clinician and Ebola survivor. He will describe his experience as a World Health Organization-deployed clinician in Kenema, Sierra Leone, and then as Ebola patient at Emory University Hospital. He hopes to highlight important issues related to the evolution of the current outbreak as well as emerging complications in survivors.
