Known as the “Warm Heart of Africa,” Malawi is one of the world’s poorest countries, land-locked, and lacking natural resources and the benefits of a coastal country. Mercy, a nurse, midwife and public health professional, works in rural areas of Malawi to address the health and psycho-social needs of the population. She uses her skills, insights and expertise to care for orphans and vulnerable children, mothers and adolescent girls living in resource-limited settings. Mercy founded Wandikweza in 2014, an organization using indigenous volunteers and interns to build strong communities.
Mercy will also be speaking at the following times:
- February 24, 10 - 11 a.m. at Belmont School of Health Sciences, McWhorter Hall 214
- February 24, 1 - 3 p.m. at Meharry Medical Clinic 3007
