Dr. Schorn joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 2002 with extensive experience in clinical practice in underserved as well as private practice areas. She participated in the initial development of the nurse-midwifery program at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Galveston, Texas, while on the faculty at UTHSC in Houston. She was also a founding member of the first collaborative model hospital-based private practice in Houston, Texas. Her goal is to guide students to develop a thirst for new knowledge while providing excellent care in the clinical setting. She would like to see all graduates look for opportunities to continue knowledge development whether it is through ongoing personal education, teaching future students or pursuing scholarly interests. Dr. Schorn is active in the Vanderbilt nurse-midwifery practice. She has received awards for teaching and clinical practice. Her personal goal to ongoing knowledge development is reflected in her interest in applied clinical research. Her Articles have been published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Journal of Policy, Politics and Nursing Practice and The Journal of Midwifery and Women's Health.
