Mamie Williams, PhD, MPH, APRN, serves as the Senior Director for Nurse Diversity and Inclusion, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. In January 2022, Ms. Williams completed the Cornell University Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program. Ms. Williams is responsible for fostering collaborative partnerships with nurse leaders, staff, and faculty to ensure VUMC’s nurse work environment exemplifies diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices. Formerly Dr. Williams, served as the Senior Director for Nurse Well Being and Safety and VUMC.  Through this work Dr. Williams has been invited as a panelist to speak for the American Nurses Association’s Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation Coffee Break Series. Dr. Williams served as a Co-chair of the VUMC Racial Equity Task Force, charged with the development of the institutions’ strategic direction for inclusion and diversity. Ms. Williams serves on the American Nurses Association Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation Advisory Board and the Association of American Medical Colleges Multidisciplinary Advisory Committee. Her professional responsibilities over the past 15 years have centered on improving the nurse work environment.
