Edward (Ted) Fischer is the Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor of Anthropology and professor of Management and Health Policy at Vanderbilt University. He also co-directs the Vanderbilt Cultural Contexts of Health and Wellbeing Initiative, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and in collaboration with WHO/Europe. He founded an award-winning social enterprise in Guatemala to combat malnutrition, and he currently serves as an advisor to the World Health Organization on behavioral and cultural insights. His research focusses on issues of political economy, values, wellbeing, and development. He has authored or edited a number of books, including, most recently, Making Better Coffee: How Maya Farmers and Third Wave Tastemakers Create Value.
