Haya Hayek
Haya Hayek is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at VISPR. She is primarily responsible for training and coordinating clinical trials focusing on influenza vaccines for immunocompromised populations, both locally and nationally. She also worked as a clinical coordinator for the RSV surveillance study initiated in Jordan. Additionally, Haya contributes to the New Vaccine Surveillance Network (NVSN) study, utilizing data from this extensive network, along with the data team, to address key questions about acute respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses in children.
Haya's educational background includes a medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology. Her professional journey began as a general practitioner in Amman, Jordan, during the COVID-19 pandemic, a pivotal experience that solidified her interest in infectious diseases and their global impact. Working in the VISPR lab since 2021 further led her to a deeper interest and involvement in antimicrobial stewardship, global health, and vaccinology, enhancing her understanding of infectious disease clinical research through multisite CDC and NIH-funded clinical trials.
Outside of her professional life, Haya enjoys cooking, hosting themed parties, traveling, and staying active with hiking and racket sports.
