Study: 'Donut hole' shrinking, but Medicare drug costs rising

In a research letter published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Dr. Stacie Dusetzina, PhD, reviews the rising cost of anticancer drugs under Medicare Part D.

Her most recent published study found that although the Affordable Care Act closed the so-called "doughnut hole" and reduced the coinsurance for branded drugs, the rising cost of those drugs has negated any cost savings, and in some cases increasing the cost to patients.
