Dr. Johnson is a structural biologist that utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to understand calcium regulatory processes in the heart.
In summer 2020 Dr. Johnson accepted a generous offer from Mississippi State University where he now has his own independent laboratory as a tenure-track assistant professor. Dr. Johnson retains an adjunct appointment with the Vanderbilt Center for Arrhythmia Research and Therapeutics (VanCART) and will continue to make routine use of the high field NMR instrumentation available at the Vanderbilt Center for Structural Biology.
In recognition of his achievements, Dr. Johnson has received awards from several scientific societies; including a poster award at the 2018 Gordon Cardiac Regulatory Mechanism Conference, 2016 International Society for Heart Research World Congress, and a Young Investigator Award at the 2016 European Muscle Society Meeting. Dr. Johnson joined the Vanderbilt Faculty as a Research Instructor in Medicine the summer of 2016.
