We are very pleased to officially announce that we're (slightly) changing our name to the Vanderbilt Program for LGBTQ Health.
We formerly adopted "LGBTI" to mirror language used by the National Institutes for Health.
However, in an effort to be more reflective of the community we serve, we're putting the "Q" front and center. The letter Q stands for queer, which is an all-encompassing term that alludes to sexual or gender minority status without specifying a particular identity. While queer has historically been used as a derogatory term, the millennial generation has reclaimed the word and is now used by many with pride.
We continue to serve all sexual and gender minority patients and are ready to help all to feel welcome at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
