Kimberly Vinson, MD, associate professor of Otolaryngology and former Assistant Dean for Diversity Affairs, has been appointed to the position of Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs for Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Her appointment was effective April 18, 2020.
In this role, Vinson will continue to report to Andre Churchwell, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs for VUSM and Chief Diversity Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
As Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs, Vinson's role will be that of administering the main duties required to foster, support and advance diversity and inclusion efforts for undergraduate admission and to support the Senior Associate Dean in all tasks in the Office for Diversity Affairs.
Since 2011, Dr. Vinson has served as program director for the Undergraduate Clinical Research Internship Program (UCRIP) as well as a pipeline program for African American and disadvantaged undergraduate students. She has also administered the Office for Diversity Affairs undergraduate medical school initiatives and served on the admissions committee. She will continue in these capacities.
