MA Certification Processes

 

Vanderbilt Sponsored Certification

All currently employed VUMC medical assistants in the job codes 6779, 6784, 6787, and 6788, have to take a certification exam and pass before October 2017 to remain in the medical assisting job role.  VUMC is providing opportunities to aid current MAs in meeting the new job requirements:

1. To take advantage of this opportunity through VUMC you must meet these requirements

  • A score of ‘3’ or higher on the last Performance Evaluation
  • In good standing; not on an active performance improvement plan at the time of course enrollment
  • Employed as a medical assistant for at least 4 years (employment does not have to be at Vanderbilt)
  • Approval of the immediate supervisor

2. The manager will enroll the MA in the Learning Exchange for the Medical Assistant Review Course at 3. The MA will receive information on how to enroll in the online Medical Assistant Exam Review course through Cengage.com
