October is NAS Awareness Month
Join other coalitions in Tennessee for the Pearls & Bowties Awareness Campaign - October 6
October is NAS Awareness Month. Last year, Metro Drug Coalition (MDC) along with other state coalitions participated in Pearls & Bowties for Babies, a community NAS social media awareness campaign. MDC asked people in the community to wear pearls or a bowtie on the first Friday in October to signify raising awareness about Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and post a picture on social media with a suggested post like, “I’m wearing my pearls/bowtie in support of NAS Awareness Month” and using the hashtag #NASMonthTN.
They had a great community response to this and now they are gearing up for this year's event happening on October 6! MDC would love to have other communities across the state also promote this to have a full statewide initiative together to bring awareness to this important issue. They have partnered with local media outlets to do promotion and will be making a graphic for social media to share. This graphic can be tailored with your logo on it for you to use in promotion.
If your coalition or organization is interested in participating in this campaign, you can contact Deborah Crouse, Media Relations & Project Director at Metro Drug Coalition by email - dcrouse@metrodrug.org.
