Corey Davis is a senior attorney in NHeLP’s Los Angeles office. His work focuses on public health, particularly identifying and leveraging opportunities in the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid to improve public health.

Prior to joining NHeLP, Corey was a health policy consultant at Temple University’s fledgling Center for Health Law, Policy, and Practice, where his work focused on improving access to essential medications, particularly opioids for the treatment of cancer and AIDS pain. He was also a research assistant at the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and served as an employment rights attorney at Equality Advocates Pennsylvania, where he represented lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals and provided education, outreach and strategic support to the LGBT community.

Before joining Equality Advocates, Corey was a New Voices fellow at Prevention Point Philadelphia, where he oversaw a street-based legal clinic sited at the city’s only syringe exchange program. He also co-taught a class on LGBT law at Temple University as an adjunct in the law school’s clinical program. Corey began his legal career in health policy at the University of Pennsylvania as a legal and ethical advisor to a multi-year NIH-funded HIV prevention study in Thailand and China.

Corey is the recipient of the International AIDS Society’s Young Investigator Award and has been published numerous times in the lay and academic press. Corey received his B.S. from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, his M.S.P.H. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and his J.D. from Temple University.

A nomad at heart, Corey enjoys being on the move. Since joining NHeLP he’s traveled to 9 countries and at least 20 US states.
