Rob Dambrino, MD

Robert J. Dambrino, IV, MD was born in Hattiesburg, MS and raised in Grenada, MS. Rob attended Mississippi State University receiving a degree in biomedical engineering. After graduating summa cum laude from MSU, he matriculated into the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. During his time at UMMC he was founder and president of the UMMC Neurosurgery Interest Group and established the 3rd year neurosurgery elective for junior medical students. While at UMMC his research included neurophysiology of leptin’s effect on POMC neurons and neurosurgical outcome data in brain tumor and aneurysm patients. Rob received the Meyer and Genevieve Falk Endowment Award and the Miller-Pittman Medical Scholarship and was awarded the University of Mississippi School of Medicine Neurosurgery Merit Award given to the most outstanding student in neurosurgery. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After graduating from UMMC School of Medicine in 2018, Rob moved to Nashville to begin his neurosurgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health with an emphasis in health policy and economics. In 2022, he was selected to serve as a CSNS Socioeconomic Fellow.  His current research and clinical interests include anterior and lateral skull base, neurosurgical oncology, and cost analysis/policy factors effecting neurosurgery.

Rob is a lifelong Mississippi State Bulldog fan and enjoys cooking, singing and playing music, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. He is married to Catherine, who is a CPA with Deloitte’s audit practice.
