pic We are Monroe Carell CRNA's Stephanie S., Heather L., CRNA, and Lissa W., and also certified yoga instructors who have developed a community of yogis at VUMC.

Stephanie, Heather, and Lissa are wonderful role models for nurse wellness. Together they improve wellness for our peers and ourselves by providing guided yoga sessions for VUMC employees.

Focusing on wellness is important as it leads to a healthier self and mind. Yoga provides more benefits than just a healthier body.  It also provides a sense of community, self, and purpose. Yoga touches spiritual, social, physical, and emotional well-being as it is one way to connect with your own spirituality and community. Yoga is more than a tool for physical well-being but has its roots in mindfulness that leads to benefits across all areas of wellness.

It is important to take small steps to improve your health and habits. Yoga can help you develop your community, decompress from a day of work, achieve balance, and start your day off right.

Stephanie, Heather, and Lissa lead yoga sessions for all VUMC employees monthly at Monroe Carell to help colleagues start their shifts in a positive and relaxed mindset. Through their work, they are improving the healthcare community by creating a community of individuals passionate about their and their peer’s wellbeing.

VUMC has the tools to help further develop your well-being and find your community. You can check out VUMC’s VWell Connect, an online portal for members of Vanderbilt’s community with shared interests such as hiking, soccer, running, yoga, etc.

You can also check out VUMC Employee Resource Groups that help connect VUMC staff and aid in advancing VUMC’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. ERGs were created to foster a sense of belonging and community among VUMC employees who share common interests, culture, and goals.

Whatever your focus, VUMC has resources available to help you achieve your wellness goals.
