I started my nursing career in the Trauma Unit at Vanderbilt working as a bedside nurse from 2003-2006. In 2008 I came back to Vanderbilt as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Since then, I have had the opportunity to work in many different surgical locations within the system. I am blessed to currently provide anesthesia care at a rural community hospital in Wilson County. Our primary surgical population includes general surgery, orthopedic, obstetrics/gynecology, vascular, gastroenterology, ophthalmic, plastic surgery, and pediatrics.

While working at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital some challenges I have encountered are that we often function in a limited resource environment and serve as the primary medical treatment for many at risk populations. Our patients often struggle with access to care which can pose a challenge for pre surgical optimization. Like many other medical centers, supply chain issues have led to our team implementing innovative solutions to ensure safe patient care. Having been born and raised in the area, I consider it a privilege to serve the community in which I live. There is no greater feeling than seeing someone I have cared for outside of the hospital, especially when they remember the excellent care our team provided them.

I had the opportunity to serve as the interim manager for our CRNA group for about 6 months and was able to advocate for increasing our staffing to better our work/life balance. Since then, I have continued to help lead our group. My responsibilities include the CRNA's monthly schedules, daily staffing assignments, and helping keep our CRNA's up to date on current policies and procedures.

When I'm not at work I spend most of my time with my family. We love being outdoors, traveling, boating, and attending sporting events. I also love being crafty and making fun shirts with my Cricut!
