Lonnie S. Burnett Alumni Society
The Burnett Society fosters continuous interaction and comradery among Obstetrician Gynecologists who were faculty or trained at the Vanderbilt Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at some point in their career. The society's name honors Lonnie S. Burnett, M.D., who chaired the Department from 1976 until 1995. Dr. Burnett’s impact on those who worked closely with him is closely felt even today.
The Department has been successively led by Drs. Lonnie Burnett, Stephen Entman, Nancy Chescheir, Howard Jones and Ronald Alvarez. These leaders have trained four decades of residents and served as mentors and motivators in a demanding residency. The Burnett Society tries to be a setting for ongoing friendship and communication for those who grew into or enhanced their skills as Obstetricians and Gynecologists during their stay here at Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt Obstetrics and Gynecology wants to have a strong culture of recognizing and promoting the critical role played by our residents who are the get-up-and-go of the department. Their foundation is well formed while here at Vanderbilt and they leave well prepared to practice the art of medicine. We are happy in the knowledge that our residents assure the continuation of wonderful patient care and teaching across America. In our social networking contacts, programs and our newsletter we hope to keep you informed of news of the Vanderbilt and the Department. We really want to keep in contact with our graduates!
