The Vanderbilt University Department of Plastic Surgery is committed to removing financial barriers and reducing healthcare disparities by supporting talented medical students aspiring to become leaders in plastic surgery. We recognize that a diverse physician workforce has been empirically shown to improve patient outcomes, in part by providing more culturally competent care and better addressing the social determinants of health.
By extending this need-based scholarship, we aim to bridge gaps in access to educational opportunities and foster a robust pipeline of future plastic surgeons. This initiative is rooted in our commitment to creating an environment where all qualified students can thrive, regardless of financial constraints.
