Dr. Lannigan is the program director of the Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology Postdoctoral Program. She is an Associate Professor of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology, an Associate Professor of Cancer Biology and an Associate Professor of Cell & Developmental Biology.
Research Information
My laboratory focuses on signaling pathways that are involved in mammary gland homeostasis and breast cancer. Cancer cells frequently hijack pathways used during development. Therefore, by studying normal organogenesis it is possible to identify novel therapeutic opportunities for the treatment of breast cancer. To facilitate these studies we have developed a novel organotypic model system using living normal breast and breast cancer tissue. Additionally, we are developing a drug that we are trying to transition to the clinic for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer.
