Corporate Health and Wellness Team Reaches Out to St. Thomas Colleagues

The bond among healthcare workers, regardless of institution, has only been strengthened by the challenges of the pandemic. That unwavering bond was demonstrated recently by Vanderbilt Corporate Health and Wellness nurses who hosted an outreach event for their colleagues in the St. Thomas ICU unit. The St. Thomas team has experienced overwhelming tragedy in the last month, losing a charge nurse to COVID-19 and another to a random shooting.

In addition to handwritten messages of support and encouragement, the VUMC team delivered a BBQ dinner to the St. Thomas ICU unit along with gifts of cookies, hot chocolate and candles. While the team intended to pay for the meal and refreshments, Martin’s BBQ donated all the food, Cakes by Lori donated the cookies, and EKKO Candles donated the candles.

“I continue to be amazed at the hearts of the Corporate Health and Wellness team and their passion to make a difference in any way they can,” said Jill Brewster, Senior Program Manager of the Corporate Health and Wellness team.
