Objectives:
The activity is designed to help the learner
1) Describe the cascading effects model of sensory influence on autism symptoms
2) Explain the sensory modality of interoception and its relevance to emotion in psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions
3) Compare the sensorimotor aspects of emotion perception and emotion expression
4) List structural brain differences in autism that may underlie emotion-relevant sensory-perceptual differences in autism

Summary:
This talk will focus on sensory and sensorimotor differences in autism, and describe a model by which the brain’s interpretation of these low level differences impact the more complex behavior that clinical defines autism and its commonly co-occurring conditions such as anxiety.
