About the Annual Training Requirements
The State of Tennessee now mandates annual refresher radiation safety training for all individuals at Vanderbilt who work with ionizing radiation. If it has been eleven months or more since your initial radiation safety training, Vanderbilt policy requires that you must complete annual refresher training. Annual refresher training does not replace the initial radiation safety training that each radiation worker must complete before first working with ionizing radiation.
Annual Training Topics
You are required to complete annual re-training within a year of your initial radiation safety training on any of these topics:
- X-Ray Safety (clinical or analytical)
- Fluoroscopy Safety
- Radioactive Material Safety
- Accelerator Radiation Safety
- Caring for Radiation Therapy Patients.
Annual Training is provided online.
VU staff, faculty, and students should complete annual radiation safety training online in the University's Oracle Learning.
VUMC staff, faculty, and students should complete annual radiation safety training online in the Medical Center Learning Exchange.
VUMC SOM faculty should take the radioactive material and x-ray annual training assignments they need once they complete their VUMC Faculty Orientation and Training Office Profile. If you are not currently assigned, please update your training profile or contact FOTO for assistance.
