Jeffrey Singer M.D. Ph.D.

Jeff is originally from Santa Cruz, California, but has lived in the south since his undergrad at Duke where he first became interested in mucosal immunology and host/microbe biology in the intestine. He completed his MD/PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with PhD mentor Casey Weaver studying CD4 T cell differentiation and colonization dynamics of the neonatal microbiome. He’s a Gastroenterology Fellow, member of the Harrison Society, and joins the Skaar lab to study metal acquisition in Klebsiella pneumoniae and what makes patients with decompensated liver disease so prone to getting infections.
