2016 Clinical Tuberculosis Symposium: an Update on Treatment and Prevention

The Vanderbilt Tuberculosis Center (VTC) and the Tuberculosis Elimination Program of Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), in collaboration with the Southeastern National Tuberculosis Center (SNTC), are pleased to announce the “2016 Clinical Tuberculosis Symposium: An Update on Treatment and Prevention.” This event will engage participants through presentations of TB cases in Tennessee, analysis of clinical challenges and opportunities by a panel of clinical and laboratory experts, lectures and participant discussions. Registration and information about continuing medical education (CME) credits will follow in the coming months.

Target Audience: Physicians, advanced practice nurses, clinical researchers, and other healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of TB disease and M. tuberculosis infection.

Core Content:

Presentation of interesting and instructive TB cases, including those with co-morbidities, unique risk factors, diagnostic and/or clinical management challenges
Lectures on multidrug-resistant TB, TB and diabetes mellitus, HIV-related TB, and the use of the once-weekly isoniazid/rifapentine (“3HP”) regimen for treatment of M. tuberculosis infection
Expert analysis and panel discussions of clinical issues
Participant engagement and discussion
