Hello and welcome to our unit!
I’m Breehan Pfeiffer, MSN, RN, Manager of the Adult Emergency Department, also known as Adult ED. We are located on the 1st floor of Vanderbilt University Hospital (VUH). In addition to being an Adult Emergency Department, we are a Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke Center, and Chest Pain Center.
The environment in our department is fast-paced, and high-volume, and staff is like a family.
We care for all patients who present to our department to be treated for emergent medical conditions.
Our patients are unique because we never know who will come through our doors.
One of the perks of working in my department is treating patients with various illnesses and injuries.
Our nurses are successful because they have support, knowledge, and critical thinking skills.
We orient new staff by providing individualized orientation based on the unique needs of the staff member.
We encourage professional growth.
Whether your career goal is to be a top-notch clinical nurse, a Flight Crew member, a Nurse Practitioner, or in a leadership role, the Adult ED can help with this by offering individualized mentoring and development.
