Competencies
Competencies
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center competency process is based on the Donna Wright Competency Model. Ongoing competency plans are developed at the departmental level and are a dynamic process based on the organization’s strategic direction and environmental changes.
Education staff and department staff/leaders collaborate to identify ongoing competencies in most cases annually. When identifying and prioritizing competencies, factors considered include new, changed, high-risk, and/or problematic procedures; new or ongoing initiatives; changes in equipment; topics identified based on quality and outcome data; and regulatory requirements.
