Hello and welcome to our unit!
I’m Ali Grubbs, Manager of the Medical Observation Stepdown unit, also known as TVC2Obs. We are located on the 2nd Floor Critical Care Tower at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
The environment on our unit is fast-paced, flexible to patient needs, and welcoming.
We care for adult patients 18 and older who are being treated for various medical and surgical needs. Our patients are unique because of their diverse diagnoses and specialized observational needs.
One of the perks of working on my unit is that it affords the unique opportunity to be some of the first staff to serve patients in this area, allowing us to shape what we want our unit to be like!
Our nurses are successful because they have a robust support system, the opportunity for shared governance decision-making, and ample opportunity to professionally develop.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a six-week unit-based, precepted orientation. Our unit is part of the Nurse Residency Program.
We encourage professional growth.
If your career goal is to increase your nursing skills with a diverse patient population, TVC2Obs can help with this by supporting you throughout your transition to practice and care deeply about your success here at VUMC.
