Melissa McCoy, MSN, RN-BC
Director of Nursing Professional Excellence
Missy began her nursing career as a bedside nurse working with adult pre- and post-transplantation patients after graduating with her Bachelor’s in Nursing in 2010 from the University of Tampa. Transplant and post-surgical patients became her passion for ten years, and she became an ANCC Board Certified Medical-Surgical nurse. She dedicated 8 of her ten years on the floor to our VUH Transplant and Surgical Care unit as a bedside nurse and Clinical Staff Leader. After completing her Master’s in Nursing, Health Systems Management from Johns Hopkins University in 2019, she completed the 2-year VUMC Nursing Administrative Fellowship program.
As the Director of Professional Excellence, Missy partners closely with staff and leaders on projects and initiatives related to Shared Governance and our Magnet program.
In her free time, Missy enjoys going on walks to the park with her son and husband and trying new restaurants in Nashville.
