Pediatric Hematology & Oncology (PHO), 6th Floor Monroe Carell

mgrHello and welcome to our unit!

I’m Courtney Williamson, MSN, RN, CPNP-AC, Manager of the Pediatric Hematology & Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant unit, also known as PHO.  We are located on Pods A & B on the 6th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The environment on our unit is team-oriented, infused with high-quality, passionate care, and inclusive.

We care for pediatric patients ranging from newborns to 24 years of age who are being treated for hematologic and oncologic disorders.

Our patients are unique because they leave a lasting impression on our hearts and make us realize that regardless of the odds, you must continue to fight.  PHO is ranked #14 nationally for the high-quality care that we provide.

One of the perks of working on our unit is that we administer numerous complementary therapies that differentiate us from other programs.  Our unit also continuously scores very high on patient satisfaction in reference to teamwork.  It is also a blessing to care for the best patient population.

Our nurses are successful because they are compassionate, dedicated, highly skilled, and committed to providing the best care possible.

We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a 10-14 week unit orientation with dedicated preceptors, and specific didactic educational offerings.

We encourage professional growth.

If your career goal is to grow professionally and find a nursing unit that cultivates talent, the Pediatric Hematology & Oncology unit will help you nurture your career while treating you like a member of a work family.
