Pediatric Medicine Acute Care (PMAC), 7th Floor Monroe Carell

mgrHello and welcome to our unit!

I'm Jessica Binkley, MSN, RN, CPN, Manager of the Pediatric Medicine and Acute Care unit, also known as PMAC.  We are located on the 7th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The environment on our unit is energetic with a concentration on strong teamwork. Every day provides new learning opportunities.

We care for pediatric patients ranging in age from newborns to 18 years who are being treated for a variety of medical diagnoses.

Our patients are unique because we specialize in Epilepsy Monitoring, Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), and Peritoneal Dialysis.

One of the perks of working on our unit is the diverse diagnoses and specialized medical needs of our patients.  Also, being a 42-bed unit, we are the largest acute care unit at Children’s Hospital.

Our nurses are successful because they have a willingness to learn, work collaboratively with the interprofessional team, and can adjust quickly to new challenges.

We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a six-week unit-specific orientation with dedicated preceptors.

We encourage professional growth.

If your career goal is to develop strong assessment skills and a solid foundation in nursing, the Pediatric Medicine and Acute Care unit can help with this with a vast array of patient populations and diagnoses.

If you have any questions about our unit, please email me at jessica.binkley@VUMC.org or visit Work at Vanderbilt University Medical Center to explore open nursing positions.
