Hello and welcome to our unit!
I am Miriam Majors, BSN, RN, Director of Surgical Services which includes Surgery, PACU, and Same Day Surgery. Our Surgery Unit (OR) is located on the first floor of Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital (VTHH) near the admissions entrance.
The environment on our Surgery Unit (OR) is welcoming, supportive, and adaptive to provide the teamwork necessary to care for each patient. This is a unit that provides for our patients needing urgent or emergent surgical procedures. We work closely with all the interdisciplinary teams involved in our patient’s care.
We care for pediatric and adult patients.
One of the perks of working in our Surgery Unit (OR) is the opportunity to work as a team supporting the care of our patients. All team members are engaged in the quality of care for our patients and their input is valued. We support the importance of a work-life balance.
Our nurses are successful because they are committed to our patients, team members, and communities and offer extensive nursing knowledge while giving compassionate care.
We orient new nurses to our unit by providing a preceptor who supports the learning experience of the new nurse throughout the orientation experience.
We encourage professional growth.
If your career goal is to expand your nursing career, we are committed to helping with this process by providing experiences that support opportunities for your growth and future development. Our unit has many success stories with continued growth and advancement.
