Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) offers two tuition benefits to help our staff pursue education goals that align with their career goals: the Human Resources (HR) Tuition Benefit and the Nursing Tuition Assistance Benefit (NTAB).
VUMC has partnered with EdAssist to provide our staff with back-to-school coaching and navigating VUMC tuition benefits.

Information about VUMC's Tuition Benefits
The Human Resources (HR) Tuition Benefit:
- Each semester, participation in the HR Tuition Benefit is required for one class; the remaining classes are covered through the Nursing Tuition Assistance Benefit up to the allowed maximum
Nursing Tuition Assistance Benefit (NTAB) Program*:
* Program is subject to change at any time.
- Program based on a fiscal calendar year (July 1 - June 30)
- Open to full-time VUMC Staff Members enrolled in accredited degreed ADN, BSN, or MSN programs; Doctoral studies and certification programs are ineligible
- VUMC Staff Members must be admitted through the normal admissions process into an ACEN and/or CCNE accredited School/College of Nursing for degree-seeking purposes for a nursing degree (ADN, BSN, or MSN) before use of the benefit.
- Coverage up to $8,000 of tuition charges per fiscal year (total not to exceed $24,000); books and fees are not covered
- A minimum grade of "C -" or "Pass" is required for reimbursement
- Application managed through EdAssist; reimbursement managed through VUMC's Nursing Education and Professional Development

- Participants are responsible for personal taxability obligations
NTAB Eligibility Requirements for VUMC Staff Members
- Have at least one year of continuous full-time employment at the time of NTAB application
- Be employed full-time (minimum 30 hours per week) while receiving NTAB
- Be and remain in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan) while receiving NTAB
- Acceptance into a degree-seeking Nursing program (ASN, BSN, and/or MSN) accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing.
Please note: To maintain adequate patient care resources, employees must negotiate all arrangements for special working hours/shifts with their supervisor before the initiation of educational coursework under this plan. Accommodations for school schedule commitments are not guaranteed. All employees refer to Policy CL 20-06.25 Patient Care Services: Scheduling Process, regarding maximum shift length and consecutive days in providing direct care to patients.
