- 2/12/24: Mike Ward, MD, PhD, MBA, Sunil Kripalani, MD, MSc, and Alan Storrow, MD are PIs on a T32 grant from NHLBI to establish the Vanderbilt Interdisciplinary Hospital-based Systems of Care Research Training ProgrAm (VISTA). VISTA will train 2-3 postdoctoral investigators per year with a focus on patient-oriented and health systems research for acute heart, lung, or blood disorders in the hospital setting.
- 1/05/24: VUMC recently began testing AI for assisting health care documentation with a 10-physician pilot involving a system called DAX Copilot, from Nuance, a Microsoft subsidiary. Dara Mize, PhD discussed the program in the VUMC Reporter.

This study analyzed electronic health records to find several associations between delays and adverse outcomes, such as longer hospital stays.

- September 2020: Patty Sengstack, DNP, RN also authored an ANIA Position Statement which was just released in September, regarding the burden of EHR documentation. She has been leading a group of Nursing Informatics leaders across the nation on this effort. Congrats on a fantastic accomplishment!
- October 2020: Patty Sengstack, DNP, RN, and Karen Hughart, MSN, BN were highlighted in an article in Computers, Informatics, Nursing (CIN) for their effort in sharing information during COVID-19, which was much needed at the beginning of the outbreak. Their video interview in April led to a series of 12 videos with other health systems and medical centers across the country.

Including several VCLIC members, recently led a transition of the clinical and IT systems at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital (VTHH) in Tullahoma, TN. This effort represented a critical step in fully integrating the hospital into the Vanderbilt family. The IT transition brought several new systems and tools to VTHH, including eStar, laboratory and imaging systems, pharmacy systems, new clinical equipment, and faster and more reliable wireless networks.
