Alison R. Carroll MD, MPH
Alison R. Carroll MD, MPH is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist and a heath services researcher. She received her degree in Psychology in 2009 from Davidson College. She then went on to complete her M.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015, followed by her residency in pediatrics (2015-18) and chief residency (2019), also at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Carroll completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Vanderbilt in 2021 where she was also a AHRQ T32 Patient/pRactice Outcomes and Research in Effectiveness and Systems Science (PROgRESS) scholar. She also received her Master in Public Health from Vanderbilt in 2022. She joined the Vanderbilt faculty in the Department of Pediatrics in July 2022 as an Assistant Professor on the Investigator Track. Her research focuses on studying the integration of social determinants of health into clinical care for hospitalized children using information technology and implementation science. Ultimately, she plans to develop, test and implement interventions that span hospital and community-based care to reduce hospitalizations and prevent outcome disparities for children and their families.
