Outreach Opportunities

The VI4 DEI Committee is organizing virtual outreach initiatives aimed to address the disparity in STEM education across the US. Through various opportunities and levels of engagement, VI4 scientists can engage students interested in STEM careers through hosting single virtual classroom visits, serving as longer term project leaders, and/or one-on-one mentorship.

We want to hear from you!

Mentoring Program

The VI4 DEI is committed to making Vanderbilt a more inclusive and interactive environment. Earlier this year we launched the DEI mentoring program. The goal of this program is to connect underrepresented minority trainees with faculty, staff, or upper-level trainee mentors.

If you are interested in signing up to be a mentor or mentee in the future, email us!

Crisis Care Counseling

If you or someone you know needs to speak with a professional counselor immediately, the University Counseling Center offers Crisis Care Counseling during the summer and academic year. Students may come directly to the UCC and be seen by the clinician on call, or may call the UCC at (615) 322-2571 to speak with a clinician. If you are calling after hours, you will be transferred to an answering service with mental health providers on call.

  • During the academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) Crisis Care hours are from 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday
  • During the summer months Crisis Care hours are from 10:00am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday

You can call the UCC crisis hotline: (615) 322-2571. Your call will be answered by a mental health provider on-call.

If you are in immediate crisis, you can also call the Samaritan hotline 312-673-3000.
