When I moved to Nashville in 2003, the only two things I knew about this town were the influences of country music and healthcare. VUMC was a beacon to me as THE leader in health care, not just in Middle Tennessee but in the Southeast. I wanted to become a part of an elite team and VUMC has afforded me that opportunity. I was able to quickly advance from a clinic Nurse Practitioner to Clinical Manager and on to Director. I don't think I would have had the same career opportunities at another medical center. Being a nurse leader at VUMC allows me to be an impactful voice for our patients, staff, and providers on a national level. We help to influence policy and what is considered best practice. I love having the ability to give back to my staff and to positively shape their careers like so many have done for me. Life can be a messy thing, and I take pride in being a supportive and steadying influence for all my teammates.
