Welcome!

The Importance of Nurse Well-Being

As caregivers, nurses sometimes neglect taking care of themselves.

Caring for your whole self comes in many shapes and sizes. You may enjoy going for a run, spending time with friends and family, cooking or reading a book. These are just a few examples of how you can care for your well-being. To help us have balance, it is important to look at our physical, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental, occupational, spiritual and financial well-being.

Caring for your well-being is important so that you can show up fully for yourself, the people you love, and your patients and families. Within Vanderbilt Health and the Nurse Wellness Committee, we don’t want your well-being to be left outside the clinic, hospital, ambulance or office doors. We strive to advocate for the health and wellness of our nursing teams, develop and evaluate programs to improve work-life balance and educate nurses and staff on initiatives and resources available to improve our overall well-being.

Nurse Well-Being: Wellness Wheel

(click for phone-friendly version)

The Wellness Wheel is a tool you can use to focus on your whole self. Many different areas of wellness venture out into all aspects of our lives.

Each topic is important to have a balanced life. You can care for each of these dimensions of wellness through individual actions and systemic advocacy within our healthcare system and communities at large.
