The Women’s Health Research group at Vanderbilt is dedicated to highlighting exceptional research related to women’s health, promote the growth and enthusiasm for women’s health research across campus and to connect researchers across the basic and biomedical sciences working in topics related to women’s health.
The Women’s Health Research Works in Progress (WIP) meeting provides an opportunity for researchers working in disciplines related to women’s health research to present their work, optionally receive feedback and also provide feedback to others presenting in the meeting. The forum provides the opportunity to present work at various stages of completion. These may be informative seminars, or any completed or WIPthat you wish to share. Examples of these works may include:
● Informative seminar style talk
● Manuscript for peer review submission
● Abstract for a conference
● Conference presentation
● Brainstorming session
● Grant application (from specific aims only, to any portion of the grant)
● We also plan to invite outside speakers for topics/methods relevant to attendees
Relevant women’s health topics include but are not limited to pregnancy outcomes (maternal and/or fetal), long term health effects of pregnancy complications, gynecology related outcomes, reproductive medicine, hormone use (oral contraceptive or post-menopausal), or any outcomes evaluating sex and gender differences.
● The meeting provides opportunity to engage and connect researchers across campus working in topics related to women’s health
● It provides an opportunity to receive and give feedback that is content specific and/or related to clarity of messaging.
● Provides an accountability-buddy system
We would love to hear about a new project you are working on, the result of your past work, or developments made in the field. The audience will include both Ph.D. and M.D. scientists, and those in training, engaged in either clinical/translational or basic research. These meetings will be held via Zoom until further notice, wherein the first hour is devoted to presentations and feedback and the subsequent half hour is devoted to conversation amongst colleagues. The meetings are scheduled for the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 10:00-11:30 am.
