Continuing Education

Continuing Education is considered an integral part of the continuum of medical education, starting with the undergraduate experience, progressing through graduate medical education, and culminating with ongoing continuing medical education and continuing professional development. The Division of CME sponsors learning opportunities and scholarly programs for physicians and other members of the healthcare team that enable them to provide the very best possible care to their patients and perform optimally in their other professional responsibilities as measured by improvements in competence, performance, and healthcare quality. The Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Office for Continuous Professional Development, Division of CME maintains Accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), recognizing demonstrated engagement with the quality improvement enterprise in a way that supports physician learning and quality patient care.
