Program Qualifications:

Applicants to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Administrative Fellowship Program must be:

  • Masters-level graduates from programs in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or Public Health.


Applicants to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Administrative Nursing Fellowship Program must be:

  • Masters-level graduates from programs in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or Nursing Administration.

  • Applicants must have relevant healthcare experience: including internships, externships, fellowships. 

  • Registered Nurse with a minimum 5 years post-graduation experience in direct patient care and leadership. 

 


Program Structure:

Within the VUMC Administrative Fellowship Program we host two Administrative Fellows and one Administrative Nursing Fellow. The Administrative Nursing Fellowship is a two-year opportunity working with the Chief Nursing Officer and senior nursing leaders of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Hospitals and Clinics. 

All fellows follow the same See One, Do One, Lead One Structure. 


Application Requirements:

Required Application Materials:

  • Essay responses to the following prompts (500 words limit for each prompt-1500 words total): 
    • Pick 3 words to describe yourself and explain why you chose them. 
    • What are the 3-4 things that every health system CEO/CNO should have on his or her agenda? 
    • What is the most common mistake (pick one) healthcare leaders make? How could this mistake be avoided? 
  • Three signed recommendation letters (one from a faculty member from your graduate level academic discipline, one from professional/work experience, and one additional).** 
  • Unofficial Graduate School Transcript(s). 

*Please do not submit a cover letter.

  2. Select “Apply Manually”  
  3. If you do not have an account already, select "Create Account" and proceed with the required steps. 
    1. You will need to create an “External Account” or apply as an “External Candidate/Applicant”. This will allow you to upload required documents. 
    2. Should you be unable to upload documents, you may send letters of recommendation and essays to: vumcadminfellowship@vumc.org.  
  4. Proceed with the application filling out: Work Experience, Education, Licenses and Certificates, Languages, Skills 
  5. Under “Resume/CV” please attach your current resume as a Word or PDF document. 
  6. Continue to "Application Questions" 
  7. Continue to "Voluntary Disclosures" and "Self Identify" These are both voluntary sections, but you must click through them to complete the application. 
  8. You will have the opportunity to review your application before submitting. 
  9. Continue to complete and submit the application on or before 11:59 pm CST on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
