The Department of Anesthesiology has appointed Dr. Andrew Franklin to Interim Division Chief of Pediatric Anesthesiology, effective July 1st.
In this role, he will continue to promote a vibrant academic and professional environment for the faculty and staff with the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology. More specifically, Andrew will help onboard eight new pediatric anesthesiologists that will join the Division in the fall.
He has been at VUMC since 2005, when he began an internship with the Department of Anesthesiology. He’s been a faculty member for the past 13 years.
In 2014, Andrew was appointed director of pain management services by Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital leadership. He has steadily grown inpatient and outpatient pain management volume and care pathways over the past ten years. Andrew has also started one of the first pediatric Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programs in the country from scratch. He currently oversees seven pediatric ERAS pathways and leads the perioperative medicine efforts at the Children’s Hospital.
Congratulations Dr. Franklin.
