Final touches are being put on presentations, bags are getting packed and in about a week, members from the Department of Anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center will be in sunny San Francisco, California for the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting.
Clinicians from across the country will be in attendance to explore new ideas and innovations, learn from their colleagues, and network. This year the Department is participating in more than 65 activities, with topics ranging from artificial intelligence in anesthesia to RBC transfusion and blood conservation. We will also be celebrating research and honoring one of our own, Dr. Edward Sherwood, the recipient of the 2023 FAER Mentoring Excellence in Research Award.
Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology Warren Sandberg encourages those attending to take this time to network with national and international colleagues, as well as peers who you’d like to bring back to VUMC as new colleagues.
“It is through collaboration that we attain the highest levels of success in our rapidly evolving field,” Sandberg said. “I hope you will find the presentations motivating and inspiring as you embark upon new ideas in research, education and perioperative care.”
The meeting begins Friday, October 13, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
