Vanderbilt's Innovation Catalyst Fund
PROPOSALS DUE OCTOBER 31, 2024
Vanderbilt is introducing the Innovation Catalyst Fund, a new internal funding program sponsored by Chancellor Daniel Diermeier, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs C. Cybele Raver and Vice Chancellor for Finance and Information Technology Brett Sweet. The program is aimed at moving translational research and innovation into real-world solutions more quickly.
All full-time faculty at VU and VUMC across all colleges and disciplines are eligible to apply. All submitted proposals will receive review and feedback from the Innovation Catalyst Fund Review Committee, a group of peer faculty from the university and medical center with expertise ranging from social sciences, arts and humanities to physical sciences, medicine and engineering. In addition to faculty reviewers, an Innovation Catalyst Fund Council of Vanderbilt experts in innovation and commercialization from the CTTC, Wond’ry, Brock Center, finance and other relevant offices, in consultation with deans and VUMC leaders in research and innovation, will provide further insight on applications to support final funding decisions.

Vanderbilt Medical Device Club
We are a like-minded group of computer scientists, engineers, and clinicians who want to innovate healthcare through technology. We provide:
- A forum/community to have technical and clinical discussions about medical devices and technologies with subject area experts;
- Help for our members to overcome technical challenges in their applications;
- Opportunities to get involved in medical device and technology development;
- Foster inventive ways to evaluate the efficacy/risk early in the design process as fast and as cheaply as possible
Also, the Medical Device Club aims to complement/support the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering by providing a weekly opportunity to innovate and discuss technical challenges.
Eligibility - We HIGHLY encourage Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt University Medical Center senior design teams, graduate researchers, and anyone working on medical technology projects to join the club and take advantage/participate in the community — we are a diverse group with experts spanning multiple engineering and medical disciplines. We like to think of the club as a teaching hospital for medical devices.
